Good News!!!

So, I went to the orthodontist today and got some good news. I am ALMOST done expanding. I only have 4 more turns left. This means I will have a total of 36 turns (9mm expansion). The other good news is that in 2 more weeks I get my braces back on. Yay! I am really excited to get this gap closed.

32 Turns Later

I went to my orthodontist last Monday and turns out, just like I thought, 18 turns was nooot enough. That only gave me 4.5 mm of expansion. When I went in to see him, he gave me my extra turning homework, and now I am at 32 turns!!! This gives me a total of 8 mm expansion - so far. (unless he adds more again) I have to say, I am super happy with everything so far. This whole process has been a breeze! It really made me feel more comfortable with the thought of possibly needing double jaw surgery later on down the road. There is one small thing that worries me a bit. I get a small pain in the back of my upper jaw when I move my head too quickly. I just assumed, for now, that it is just my bone healing up and feeling coming back to my jaw (since I can finally feel my teeth again). I go back to the ortho on Tuesday to see what he says, let's hope I'm almost done expanding so I can get on with the braces!!!
Here is my before and after of my upper palate (3.5 weeks post-op). The difference is amazing so far. My palate was so narrow. :D <3 :')

Getting SO Close

So, it's been a while since I've posted because there hasn't really been that much going on lately with my braces treatment.

Here's an update. :)

April 22nd: I got those awesome little blue spacers put in-between my teeth to make room for my expander. These gave me some hassle because they kept falling out once my teeth separated enough.

April 28th:  I got my impression done for the fit of the expander. I also got fitted for bands.

May 6th: This is the day I actually got my expander put in. It turned out to be a very frustrating day for me. All I wanted to do was eat, drink and swallow properly, but, it's kind of impossible at first. All you can do is sit there with a mouth full of saliva. (Not cute lol) Oh! Not to mention not being able to talk properly. I found the words that were the hardest to say had the sound "e" and "u". I work at Tim Horton's so you can imagine how it sounded when I said "Hi, thank you for choosing Tim Horton's, my name is Megan, how may I help you." Haha! Also, one of the band brackets is hitting my bottom teeth and it's making my open bite look way worse.

>They finally changed my bottom wire (after 4 months of the hygienist saying it was only on for 4 weeks). FINALLY. I was starting to wonder if they were ever going to change it. I had to tell my orthodontist myself that the wire had been on for 4 MONTHS. :/

Today is May 12th, and my surgery is so close. I'm heading down on the bus on Tuesday, May 13th and my surgery is on Friday, May 16th. Oh my god. I'm so nervous.

Here are my updated picture so far (4 months in braces):

^^^ EXPANDER YAY XD (awkward pictures omg lol)
